How It Works
When Apollo is used without an on-site server, Biblionix manages all of your data on its powerful servers. High performance and redundant components are chosen to ensure that your library receives continuous operation. These types of components would typically be unaffordable by an individual library, so your level of service will increase.
- Search the Catalog link: On your Web site and on your library's internal computers, you'll want a link that says something like "Search the Catalog." We'll provide you a URL to use for that link. When it is clicked, our servers deliver the content. What the user sees is exactly the same, whether at home, in the library, or anywhere else. This goes for patrons and staff alike. Easy.
- Access Control: You can assign any number of passwords to the system, each with permission to access only modules that you designate. Set permissions for groups of people (eg, volunteers) or individuals (eg, the director and the cataloger).
- Auxiliary Disk Space: We reserve space on our disks for your library. You can use this space to host your Web site, handle your email, and to store backups for critical library data. This further reduces your need to have an on-site server. This is our Calliope service.
- No Software to Install: Your entire automation system is accessible with simply a browser. You can use any reasonably modern Web browser, and any operating system you choose. You don't need your on-site server.
